Politicians and plans

In a recent speech Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff claimed Canada needed a "plan" for growth.

That led me to send the following letter to the editor to the Globe and Mail:

Dear Sir/Madam:
Beware of politicians bearing “plans.”

Take Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff. He says he has a plan for economic growth. ("Ignatieff pushes ‘good government'and growth instead of tax cuts", Sept 22)

Translation: he wants to subsidize industries, regulate trade and generally pick winners and losers in the economy.

We’ve tried this sort of planning before.

It doesn’t work.

Rather than creating economic growth, it creates big, costly and inefficient government.

That’s why the only thing our politicians should be planning is how they can leave the economy alone

The only program that is important to me, as a small business owner, is reduced taxes.

Ignatieff's "Big Canada", and big programs spells trouble for hardworking business people. He seems to have no idea what he is saying, but why should he? He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and spent his career wrapped in the fuzzy warm comfort and security of his family name, and the large, baby safe, sanitary institutions that hired him because of it.

To a business person, Ignatieff doesn't register as credible. He won't get our vote.

I have no idea what FoxtrotBravo is talking about and I'm willing to bet neither does he.

The only two words he used were reduced taxes.

The rest of it is drivel, no ideas, no solutions and no offering of meaningful suggested outcomes.

I own an incorporated business and I have no idea what he/she is talking about.

Agreed Gerry.

But it does "work" for the mooches getting money for nothing. That's all that counts with them.

It also "works" for the Gliberals handing out taxpayer’s money in exchange for the mooches support. That's all that counts with them too

It’s just so easy to be liberal when it doesn’t cost you a dime and doubly so when it’s deliciously lucrative.

A terrible conment AToryNeverWas.
I'm willing to bet that not to many people would buy into your rigmarole.

That's rich coming from a guy who may support the wildest spending spree of any government in Canadian history.

Did I mention they are conservatives?

Hogwash politics.
