Kyoto Komix

This cartoon is clipped from a federal government propaganda piece called Superkids.

Note the scare tactics employed. If we don't stop "wasting" oil there won't be enough left to drive a car in ten years.

Well, here's the kicker. This particular Superkids comic was published way back in 1976! Now, I'm no math genius but by my calculation that means we must have run out of gas in 1986.

So much for government predictions.

Makes you wonder what all those doom and gloom predictions about global warming will look like 30 years from now.

Gerry,

Not sure if you've seen it, but the Skeptical Environmentalist Bjorn Lomborg has done a short rebuttal of the Stern report.

Yes Olaf, I heard about that. Lomborg has a great take on this stuff.

...Probably about the same as the "acid rain" doom and gloom predictions previously advanced by former co-director of the Canadian Coalition on Acid Rain - Michael Perley - during his pre-OCAT (Ontario Campaign for Action on Tobacco) days....such "expert" environmental activists seemingly never quit, they merely change the focus of their money-making campaigns to justify additional social engineering...every socialist government seeking public acceptance of their further intervention into market decisions, private property and affairs needs and supports "career" activists/lobbyists to drive their preferred public policy decisions with the help of a complicit media motivated by sensationalism and fearmongering...looks like the Tories are no different...

I believe global warming is for real and while the science is still evolving the risks if the science is correct are far too great to do nothing. In simple terms it will cost us less to deal with it now than later. As someone who is only 25, this is not something future generations will have to deal with, but something that I will face in my lifetime.

I wonder if there are any government comics on the dangers of global cooling...

OK then, how do we "deal with" the 97% of CO2 emissions that aren't man made? Environmental/socialist wackjobs continually avoid that question prefering to use the Kyoto wealth redistribution scam to control our lives
