Tobin Loves the Fraser Institute

I see where the Fraser Institue has appointed former Liberal MP and Newfoundland Premier, Brian Tobin a senior fellow.

This is the same Tobin who in 1999 called the Fraser Institute "the most right-wing, Looney Tune institute . . . ever set foot on the soil of Canada."

I guess Tobin is changing his looney tune.

I think this gives the Institute more credibility. Everybody knows they don't like the NDP, but should they have people from both the Liberals and the Conservatives it makes it much harder to call them a Conservative mouthpiece. Maybe your organization, should consider bringing in a few pro-free market liberals. Maybe just something worth considering

I don't have a problem with pro-free market Liberals, but Tobin is a far left Liberal.

In my view his appointment diminishes both Tobin's credibility and the Institute's.

Actually Brian Tobin is not that left wing since he did I believe cut spending and cut taxes as premier. In addition I've found a lot of people who enter government on the left side of the spectrum leave on the right side after seeing how things work.

If you want to talk about left liberals someone like Bob Rae or even your own MP Bonnie Brown would fit that description more than Tobin. Tobin is cut from the same cloth as McKenna and Manley.
