Mayor Miller's bold plan to disarm the hobbyists

I have a column in the Western Standard.ca examining Commissar David Miller's scheme to protect Toronto from crazed, gun-toting Olympians.

(Note - I originally pitched this column to the Toronto Star but they rejected it, implying it was in bad taste).

Even here in Toronto, Miller's plan doesn't seem to be getting a lot of support. I am for strict gun laws, but I do believe that the government should go after those who obtain them illegally or smuggle them across the border. Obtaining a licence for a handgun in Canada is extremely difficult and there are many regulations to ensure they are only used for legitimate purposes such as target shooting. I don't support American style gun laws, but neither do I support going to the extreme of Britain, which banned them outright.

Great! Guess it's too much for the red star to handle.. God forbid someone read something that made practical sense.

Hats off,
We appreciate the support.
The next time those callcenter kids poll me on the reason I stopped reading the Star, I will remind them of their omission of valid viewpoints (such as yours).

Distorting facts and pandering to special interests is the status quo with newsrags these days.
Tell your bosses to ratchet up their game and buck a few of these trends if they want to get noticed.

Regards,
Chris

Looks like the hobbyists need a few lobbyists. Sorry, but it just had to be said.
