- Gerry Nicholls is a communications consultant and writer who has been called a “political warrior” a “brilliant strategist” and one of the “canniest political observers in Canada.” He has worked as a consultant in both the United States and Canada and was formerly a senior officer in the National Citizens Coalition. A regular columnist with the Ottawa Hill Times, his work has also appeared in the Globe and Mail, the National Post and in the Sun Media chain; and he has appeared on countless TV and radio public affairs programs. He is the author of the book, Loyal to the Core, Harper, Me and the NCC.

Resurfacing roads is socialism?
Funding Conservative voting farmers from cradle to grave is not socialism??
Subsidizing the good folks at the Fraser Institute is not socialism??
I am a Conservative, but I don't believe policies should be based on whether they are socialist or capitalist. They should be based on what's right and what will work for Canadians. So what if the Conservatives are using socialist tactics to get out of this recession? While far from perfect, increased stimulus spending in the past has been shown to cushion the effects of the global recession. Thus, good on the Conservatives for being pragmatic.
So what if the Conservatives are using socialist tactics to get out of this recession?
Because "Conservatives" continually preach against "socialism" under any circumstance, unless it benefits their constituency.
That means you are craven hypocrites, not "conservatives", and deserve nothing but contempt.
