Liberal spot hopelessly hokey

The Liberals need to get some better PR guys. I mean seriously, check out this video from the Liberal convention.

It rates a 9.5 out of ten on the Nicholls Puke Meter.

First off it's hopelessly cutesy-wutesy, secondly it suffers from the "how many visible minorities can we squeeze into this spot" syndrome, third off it offers nothing but a bunch of hokey platitudes.

Well that's not true.

It also features an important reason to support Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff: He once had his photo taken standing next to Barack Obama.

  1. A very expensive (to the taxpayers) point made in the video was ...

"I hope for a Canada where pensions are protected"

... Liberal Collectivism at its best. But Iggy did right in his new book "I am so Canadian - the Ignatieff repatriation" that in his opinion collectivism trumps individual rights.

  2. I kept on clicking forward to see what the meat of the message was.....the fact that this 8 minute clip never got there may be symbolic of Mr Ignatief or to paraphrase him in his previous leadership campaign "Michael, you didn't get it done!"

Because it's always so much better to hope that people's retirements that they've paid into for the entire careers just dry up when they need them most.

    I guess that's your point, R&R?

It's an intro video. If it were a budget, it would be printed on paper and have all sorts of numbers and figures in it. If the worst anyone can say is it seems hokey, then have at it.

  8. Glad you caught the typo. Now then, that would have been truly hokey.

  9. I think it humorous that many of the items on the wish list have been there in perpetuity, never to be acted upon by successive, often majority Liberal govts and some were only acted upon by Conservatives..

The Liberals sure do talk a good game though..

Actually, the video is perfect for a leader who lives in platitude heaven and represents the party that has a wishbone in its back rather than a backbone.

  11. It's an intro video people! At a convention...where guess what...there were Liberals happy to watch an intro to the new leader being named.

Care to share the Harper intro vid? Care to share any of the videos that play at Conservative conventions?

Talk to me about your metre then...you of the 'fair and balanced' group.

Hmmmm....you seem to have forgotten Harper's similar type video during the election - with hired actors from the US.

Either very bad memories, too too partisan to handle truth, or very jealous.

    Grow up.

  13. aahhh..we hurt KNB and Anon's feelings...we should't do that. They can't deal with it. You're empty suit will only prove this to be true in the coming months. It's hilarious how Iggy gets so impatient with the media." HOW DARE THEY question my knowledge and duty to this country!" makes me puke!

Harperites must be encouraged by the nomination of Ignatieff because as wooden and creepy Harper seems, Iggy is much worse. He is painful to watch.

Nice spin, but in this recession every companies pension fund has declined, why should taxpayers anti up to supplement the losses from private pension funds.

To suggest that Canadian taxpayers shell out for pension fund losses in a global recession is hokey.

Will Iggy and his collective mind top up all of our RRSP's too ... you know in the name of equality for all.

The last person the right referred to as an empty suit ended up cleaning the clock of a "maverick" conservative politician. That label doesn't bode well for your side. ;)

Hey last guy, one correction, the maverick you speak of wasn't conservative.
