The Good Thing About Obama

I am not sure what kind of job Barack Obama will do as President.

But no matter what happens, I will always be grateful to him for keeping Hillary Clinton out of the White House.

On a more positive note, my friend Rondi Adamson wrote a column a little while ago explaining why an Obama presidency might be a good thing.

  1. ... A good piece by Rhondi.
... In the end, it is unlikely that anything will change with Obama. Like any Peter Keating, a hollow man like Obama will always choose to "be" something, than to "do" something.
... And, it will become obvious that remaining president will be most easily achieved by staying on the same path.

Though many pundits are saying (even conservative Bill Bennett on CNN last night) that America may no longer be a centre-right country, you just have to look at some of the ballot measures to see this is not really the case. In other words, it may be institutional change in the white house, but not on the ground when it comes to moral issues:

California (which isn't exactly a conservative mecca) is set to pass a measure, Proposition 8, which bans gay marriage as well as Arkansas which saw Proposed Initiative Act No. 1 pass easily banning individuals cohabitating outside of a valid marriage to adopt or be a foster parent of a child less than eighteen years old. Also, voters in San Francisco voted “no” to legalized prostitution in the city.

So there is no question, social conservatism is alive and well (even in liberal dominated areas of the country).

He's going to gut the 2nd amendment for sure.

The 2nd is about having military style arms for the protection of the people from foreign and domestic enemies.

BHO already said he's planning a new and more broad assault weapons ban with no expiration. Good thing too because an amazing 1% of gun crimes involve these so called Assault Weapons.

This will just continue the streak of ever worse presidents that started with Bush MkI
