The suddenly prudish Liberals

OK the Liberal Party of Canada has officially hit rock bottom.

The party of Laurier, King, and Pearson, the "most successful political machine in Western democracy", has reduced itself to the status of the National Enquirer.

I mean, with all the important issues out there -- war in Afghanistan, possible recession, no Canadian team in the NHL playoffs -- what do the Liberals want to focus on? -- the sex life of cabinet minister Maxime Bernier!

It seems the Foreign Affairs Minister recently had a domestic affair with an ex-biker chick.

The Liberals think this little bit of gossip should be front-page news. Who knows, they seemed so worked up about it in the House of Commons yesterday, maybe they will even topple the government over it.

If they do, here's a suggested campaign slogan: "Vote Liberal -- No issue is too sleazy for us!"

I wonder what Liberal MP Scott Brison thinks about all this?

Didn't he defect from the Conservatives because he claimed they were too concerned with matters pertaining to sexual relations?

Just asking.

If every one of the Liberals currently sitting in the House had to fall on his or her sword for past indiscretions , I wonder how many would be left standing ?

Bill Graham must be relieved he got out just in time.

Guilty by association. Former GG Clarkson's ex was the leader of the "Stop Watch" bank robbers , was she taken to task.
Hell we all had fun with a bad girl and biker chicks are a fun ride.

Oh this double-standard is rich indeed - was Belinda Stronach's relationships anyone's business. Are we to think it's okay to trash her constantly and yet play this mock and ridiculous outrage?

What a bunch of hypocrites, really you are.

Hey, Stronach didn't have any "questionable" assocations and just as CSIS how they feel about Bernier.

The guy in the "Stop Watch" gang was Stephen Reid, who also won a Governor General's Award-Adrienne Clarkson's ex husband was Stephen Clarkson. Two different people.

Good letter in today's Post, Gerry.

... Gerry, let us not waste another word on the Liberal party. I suspect if people stopped mentioning them, they would, deservedly, be forgotten all together.
... Let us focus our efforts on eradicating every trace of social and economic collectivism in our country- to shine as a light of respect for individual rights throughout the world.

"Suddenly" hit rocked bottom? Am I the only one who thinks Adscam is the one episode that sent the Liberals in a credibility tailspin?

Funny that nobody mentioned the fact that Dr. Morissette shrink who found Karla Homolka low risk of reoffending also had an affair with biker girl.

I don't think you get it.
How can anyone say that the someone who has spent so much time so close to organised crime is NOT a risk?

If Berneier was trying to get a security clearance today as a regular civilian there is a significant chance that his close ties to the biker would prevent him from getting it. Does his cabinet post prevent due diligence with security? I think not.

But hey, as long as your conservative, it seems to be OK.

I think the unelected minister of Public Works said it best. Hey if we were in opposition we would probably make a stink about it too.
