Checking the President

It looks like Americans might want to slow down the Obama Express a bit.

A recent poll from McLaughlin and Associates indicates a majority of Americans say they would vote for a Republican for Congress to be a check and balance on President Obama.

Yes they would vote for a republican congress, sure but not in their sate, they will vote for the incumbent, or the new guy who promises them the most gravy. It's someone else' job to elect the check and balance, not Joe voter, he wants his new airport and shipping yard paid for with federal tax dollars, and he wants his coddling. I bet the next round of Congressional elections goes MORE democrat not less.

The American system always tends toward checks and balances. If these disappear, as they may with Democrat dominated presidency, Congress, and Supreme Court, there is a risk of the ultimate check and balance:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."
