A Plan for Tory

Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty must be a happy guy these days.

And why not?

John Tory is now officially the weakest Opposition leader in the history of Confederation.

Just consider the PC leader's sad situation:

* McGuinty beat him like a rented mule in the last provincial election.

* Tory has no seat in the legislature (And has no prospect of getting one anytime soon.)

* The endorsement of his leadership at the PC convention was less than overwhelming.

* His apparent indecision at the convention about his leadership status has undermined his credibility.

So what should Tory do?

Well maybe he should drop the "Red Tory" routine and try providing Ontarians with a realistic, small "c" conservative alternative to the McGuinty Liberals.

At this point, Tory's got nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Wanting to consult with his wife and other PC supporters can hardly be construed as a flip-flop.

If you want a real example of flip-flopping one only needs to recall Dalton McGuinty's promise not to raise taxes and to shut down pollution spewing coal fired electricity generating stations.

Now thats flip-flopping, Dalton McGuinty style.

And what about his appeasement of the teachers unions by removing teacher testing or his allowing two tiered justice to flourish in Caledonia, Ontario?

Once Ontario's economy tanks this province will need a steady hand at the tiller with experience at managing faultering economies, AKA John Tory who has the business experience to carry Ontario through economic hard times.

Something Dalton McGuinty doesn't have the business experience to do.

Well, by not resigning and running again for his own position, he has proven to be smarter then the last "red tory" who tried that ridiculous move to his own demise.

Now, if he'll only listen to you on fiscal policy Gerry, he would be much better off.

Yep, this guy's toast unless he comes up with a new routine. He should follow your advice.
